For the fifth year running, this major event for local government, the wider public sector and their partners is focused on showcasing innovation in public services reform and providing a forum to debate and challenge the key issues of the day.


We are delighted to confirm that Lord Porter of Spalding CBE, LGA Chairman and Mark Lloyd, Chief Executive of the LGA, will be in attendance and we are now working hard to bring you a great conference line up.

This year’s conference is run in partnership with the LGA and is being held on Friday 11th December at the ICC in Birmingham. Please save the date and add it to your calendar (see the link above).

9.30am Registration and coffee

10.15am Welcome and Plenary Session to include:

  • 10.15am Opening remarks - Mark Rogers, Birmingham City Council CEO and Chair of IEWM Board
  • 10.35am Benjamin P Taylor, Managing Partner at Red Quadrant
  • 10.55am Keynote speech delivered by Lord Porter of Spalding CBE, Chairman of the LGA
  • 11.15am Panel Q & A with Mark Lloyd, Chief Executive of the LGA and all speakers as above and Helen Edwards CBE, Director General, Local Government and Public Services, DCLG

12.00pm Lunch/Networking/Exhibition

  •  Lunch for chief executives with Mark Lloyd
  •  Lunch for leaders with Lord Porter
  •  Lunch for all remaining delegates and exhibition

1.30pm Workshops to cover the following areas:

  • Digital Leadership: from definition to participation
  • Latest planning reforms – boosters or blockers and where we go from here
  • Essential Ward Councillor - workshop for newly elected councillors
  • Feeling good and functioning well in the West Midlands - workshop on mental health and wellbeing 
  • Supporting senior management through a delegated leadership model
  • Moving towards self-sufficiency

Non attendance Terms and Conditions  

Please be aware we will now be applying a fixed charge of £50+ VAT for cancellations that are made less than three working days prior to the event. It is therefore recommended if you are unable to attend a suitable replacement is found to attend in your place.
